Bhubaneswar, Jan, 23: There is some relief in store for people across the state who have been shivering under severe cold conditions. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, the cold will start easing from tomorrow as night temperatures are expected to rise by around 2 to 4 degrees Celsius, reducing the intensity of the cold wave.
Today, the lowest temperature in the state was recorded at 2.5°C in G. Udayagiri, while Phulbani recorded a minimum temperature of 5.5°C. On Friday night, cold wave conditions prevailed in a few places in Jharsuguda, Angul, and Jagatsinghpur districts.
In many parts of northern interior Odisha, temperatures remained about 6 degrees below normal. In most places of southern coastal Odisha, as well as in northern coastal Odisha and northern interior districts, temperatures were 3 to 5 degrees below normal. In some parts of southern interior and northern Odisha, temperatures were 2 to 3 degrees below normal.
With a change in wind patterns expected from tomorrow, there is no likelihood of further cold wave conditions. During the day, the weather is likely to remain dry with clear skies.
