Coal Truck Crashes into Bus in Gameinma, Gajalaxmi: 6 Critically Injured, 25 Others Hurt

Sambalpur In Sambalpur district, under Rairakhol block, a serious road accident occurred near Luhapank Panchayat on National Highway 55. On Friday morning, a private passenger bus named Gajalaxmi was rammed from behind by a coal-laden truck, resulting in six passengers being critically injured and at least 25 others sustaining injuries.

As per available information, the accident happened at around 7:45 AM near Luhapank Chhak. The Gajalaxmi bus (registration number OD 15 AA 3155), which was en route from Patrapada in Angul district to Sambalpur, had halted to pick up passengers when it was struck from behind by a coal-laden truck (registration number OD 35 K 7557).

There were over 40 passengers in the bus at the time of the incident. Following the collision, six passengers were critically injured, while more than 25 others sustained varying degrees of injuries. Local residents quickly responded and helped transport the injured to the Rairakhol Sub-divisional Hospital using ambulances and private vehicles.

Police reached the scene, seized both the bus and the truck, and detained the truck driver for questioning. All the injured passengers are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
