Bhubaneswar: While Operation Sindoor against Pakistan remains a proud chapter, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has called upon citizens to strengthen the country’s defence preparedness. In a message shared through social media, he appealed to the youth to join the Civil Defence Organization as volunteers.

The CM stated, “The protection of our nation’s people and resources is the collective responsibility of all. Security and service are our highest duties. With a spirit of patriotism, I urge young citizens to come forward and enroll in Civil Defence as volunteers.”

He emphasized that the youth are the symbols of hope, trust, and strength. Interested individuals can apply through the respective District Collectors. These volunteers will be trained and, when necessary, will serve the public with dedication and a spirit of nationalism.

Currently, Civil Defence Organizations are operational in 12 locations across Odisha. The Chief Minister added that instructions have been issued to form new units wherever required. “I trust that many, especially the youth, will come forward with a spirit of service and patriotism,” he said.

Higher Education Minister Surya Banshi Suraj added: “Students must prepare themselves to serve the nation. Training in various combat skills will be provided during their academic years. This training will equip them to face external threats. The Higher Education Department will take appropriate steps to support this initiative.”

He further said that students will be prepared for recruitment in military, paramilitary, and police services. “There is a strong interest among students to serve the nation. Now, we will create the platform and opportunity which did not exist before.”

The Minister also informed that the new University Amendment Act includes a special provision to facilitate this initiative.
