Salepur: It was previously announced that the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana would be implemented in Odisha starting April 1. However, the scheme will now be operational in the state in two weeks, as informed by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Under this scheme, 3.25 crore people in Odisha will benefit. Odia people residing in different corners of the country will be able to avail free medical treatment at 29,000 hospitals across India.
For men, medical treatment worth ₹5 lakh will be provided, while women will receive treatment worth ₹10 lakh. Additionally, a new healthcare scheme, ‘Pradhan Mantri Vayovandhan Yojana,’ will be implemented for all senior citizens aged 70 and above, allowing them to receive free medical treatment. The preparations for implementing these schemes are in the final stage.
Foundation Stone Laid for the Development of Madhusudan Das’ Birthplace with ₹21 Crore Investment
On the occasion of Odisha Day (Utkala Dibasa), celebrated at Satyabhamapur in Salepur block, Cuttack district—the birthplace of Utkal Gourab Madhusudan Das, a key figure in the formation of independent Odisha—Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi made several important announcements.
Addressing a public gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized that the entire state is celebrating Odisha’s rich identity and history. For the first time, the state-level Odisha Day celebration is being held at Madhusudan Das’ birthplace. He stated, “Madhubabu’s birthplace is sacred and a pilgrimage site for us. It will be developed as a center of Odia nationalism.”
The Chief Minister further announced a ₹21 crore investment for the development of Madhubabu’s birthplace, marking a significant step toward preserving and promoting Odisha’s heritage.
