Nabarangpur, Jan, 15:  Mukunda Jani and Landai Jani, a husband and wife residing in Nabarangpur Municipality Colony, were killed in a road accident on 03-10-2025 near Taragaon on National Highway-26, while travelling from Nabarangpur to Papadahandi.
The family belongs to a very poor background and is not financially stable. As they were in urgent need of financial support for their livelihood and survival, Nabarangpur MLA Gauri Shankar Majhi informed the District Collector through a letter, requesting compassionate assistance of ₹8,00,000 (eight lakh rupees) from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for the family of the deceased Mukunda Jani.

Following this, Nabarangpur Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain, through his letter No. 185523 dated 09-12-2025, forwarded the request to the State Government for approval of the compassionate assistance.

Considering the seriousness of the case, the Odisha State Government, through the General Administration and Public Grievances Department, Lok Seva Bhavan, Bhubaneswar, vide letter No. 45 dated 01-01-2026, approved the release of ₹8,00,000 (Rupees Eight Lakh) from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in favour of the bereaved family.

This was officially communicated by the District Emergency Section, Nabarangpur.
Expressing gratitude for the generous gesture of the Odisha Government, MLA Gauri Shankar Majhi thanked the State Government and the Nabarangpur District Collector for providing timely financial assistance to the bereaved Jani family.
