Bhubaneswar, 15th Nov 2025:  Vande Mataram is not merely a song; it is a symbol of patriotism, sacrifice, and valor. Born from Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel Anand Math, this song ignited enthusiasm and a revolutionary spirit among Indians during the freedom struggle. Seeing its popularity and influence, the British rulers had even banned Vande Mataram, which itself shows the power of the song. Regardless of our religion, language, or region, national progress is impossible without patriotism. This is what Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said at the state-level event marking the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram.

Speaking at the event held at Lok Seva Bhavan, the Chief Minister said that Vande Mataram lives in our hearts. It rekindles the flame of love for the country. He added that this year-long celebration is very important to inspire patriotism among the youth and students. The collective singing of Vande Mataram from Kashmir to Kanyakumari will have a far-reaching impact, especially on young children, students, and youth. In the coming days, this will help redefine nationalism in a new way.

Therefore, for the next year, all schools, colleges, government and private institutions in every district will conduct collective singing of the national song. Plans have also been made to organize cultural events and awareness programmes. Various programmes will be conducted throughout the year.

Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Secretary of Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department Bijay Ketan Upadhyay, along with secretaries, officers, and employees of all departments were present at the event. Students of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya performed Vande Mataram on the occasion.
