Jeypore, 10th Nov 2025: A grand procession was organized today in the city to mark the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram. Over 400 students from City English Medium and City High School participated, marching through the streets of Jeypore. The city resounded with chants of Vande Mataram and Bharat Mata Ki Jai. A key attraction of the procession was students dressed as Bharat Mata, holding the tricolor flag.
The program was organized under the chairmanship of Shashi Pattnayak, Chairperson of the City High School Management Committee. The chief guests were BEO Chandan Kumar Nayak and Deputy Mayor B. Sunita. The students assembled in the school premises before starting the procession, which passed through Bell Road, NKC Road, Lal Sahi, Rajanar Chowk, and finally reached the Main Traffic Square.
The procession featured participants dressed as iconic figures like Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Rabindranath Tagore, and Aravind Ghosh, along with Bharat Mata. The program was attended by City High School Headmistress B. Sujata, Principal Sudhakar Pattnayak, President of the Telugu Cultural Committee, senior lawyer Bires Pattnayak, and members A. Srinivas Rao, K. Ramakrishna, B. Satish, Y.S. Khanna, Govind Nayak. Local volunteers including Pradeep Sahu, Anand Mudra, Ramesh Chaudhury, Ranjit Nayak, Vinayak Mahapatra, K. Krishna Rao, Gopal Sahu, Ajay Mishra, and Prasada Rao Peg also participated.
The program was conducted by teacher Pratap Pattnayak.
