Bhubaneswar, Dec, 22: The process for appointing ‘Childcare Workers’ (Shishu Sevika) for all Anganwadis in the state is moving forward. The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has written to the District Education Officers (DEOs), asking them to provide data of students in the Anganwadi category by 16th December.
According to the OSEPA letter, the recruitment process for Shishu Sevikas is at its final stage, and appointments will be made very soon. Therefore, the DEOs have been asked to provide information on how many children are enrolled in Anganwadis in each school.
It is noteworthy that on 29th June, the Chief Minister had announced that all Anganwadis in the state will have a Shishu Sevika appointed. These Sevikas will manage the activities in the classrooms for young children and take care of them properly.
Following this, on 30th June, the School and Mass Education Department issued a notification stating that the responsibility for appointing Shishu Sevikas will lie with the School Management Committee (SMC). OSEPA will also release a separate guideline for the recruitment process, including a detailed guideline explaining their roles and responsibilities once appointed.
