Bhubaneswar, Dec, 16: The government will provide financial assistance for the marriage of a girl under the Chief Minister’s Kanya Vivah Yojana. Guidelines for this scheme have been issued, and a circular has been sent to all district collectors by the Department of Women and Child Development.
Under this scheme, a girl will receive Rs 51,000 for her marriage. The guidelines specify that the age of the bride should be between 18 and 35 years, and the age of the groom should be between 21 and 35 years.
Financial assistance will be provided to SC, ST, widows, differently-abled, and economically weaker sections. Only one girl per family is eligible for this assistance, and it is provided only for the first marriage. In the case of widows, the government may also consider providing financial assistance for a second marriage.
