Cuttack: A 500-bed trauma center will be established at SCB Medical College and Hospital. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved the proposal for this state-of-the-art accident and emergency care facility. The project will be implemented under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), with 60% funding from the central government and 40% from the state government.
To establish this trauma center, the Chief Minister had written to Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda on July 2 last year. After receiving policy approval from the central government, the project has now also secured clearance from the Odisha government. Following this, a detailed project report will be prepared, and steps will be taken for its implementation, according to the health department.
Once completed, this 500-bed trauma care center at SCB will become the largest trauma care facility in eastern India. It will include dedicated infrastructure for treating accident victims, along with advanced medical equipment and facilities. The center will have a modular OT, a separate ICU, an emergency treatment unit, and specialized wards, making it a comprehensive and well-equipped facility for trauma care
