Chief Minister Enhances Funding for Cuttack’s Historic Bali Jatra Festival

Cuttack, 7th Nov 2025:  Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the inaugural ceremony of the historic Cuttack Bali Jatra as the chief guest on Wednesday. On this occasion, he stated that Bali Jatra is a beautiful symbol of Odisha’s glorious maritime history and cultural heritage.

Earlier, the state government provided a grant of Rs2 crore for organizing Bali Jatra. However, starting this year, the Chief Minister announced an increased government grant of Rs10 crore for the celebration of this historic festival.

He further announced that Cuttack, which is known as the Silver City, will be developed into a Tarakasi (silver filigree) hub to promote traditional craftsmanship.

In addition, under the Mahanadi Riverfront Development Project, a sum of Rs200 crore has been allocated for the beautification of the Mahanadi riverbank in Cuttack.

The Chief Minister also informed that the government is making efforts to get UNESCO World Heritage Site recognition for the historic Bali Jatra. Development initiatives have also begun for Barabati Fort and Gadakhai, which are symbols of Odisha’s pride.

He further added that in the coming days, development work will be undertaken for the Dhabaleswar Peeth and Nandikishore Peeth located on the banks of the Mahanadi River.
