Brahmapur, Dec, 27:  The long-standing demand for Brahmapur’s development, which had been neglected by BJD leaders for many years, has finally received attention. Although some initiatives had begun in the past few months, they were largely confined to paperwork.

The Chief Minister has now announced that Brahmapur city will be developed as a “Greater Brahmapur City.” The district administration has been instructed to immediately prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the same. Planned urban development schemes will be implemented in the city to provide essential services and proper town planning. At present, two such schemes are being prepared.
Today, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi officially announced the “Greater Brahmapur” plan and directed that the DPR be prepared immediately. This initiative will not only develop urban infrastructure in the city and its outskirts but also benefit landowners. The DPR will focus on the economic development of southern Odisha.
Under this plan:

A six-lane Brahmapur–Jeypore road will be constructed at a cost of ₹6,000 crore.
Road improvements within Brahmapur city will cost Rs52 crore.

Ten major roads will be built in Brahmapur and nearby areas to improve connectivity, with a total expenditure of Rs52.17 crore.

These projects will improve living conditions and traffic management in the city. Additionally, food streets will be developed in various areas of Brahmapur to enhance the city’s culinary fame.

The Chief Minister emphasized that Brahmapur city and Ganjam district will play a key role in building a prosperous Odisha, and more development projects for the city will be implemented in the coming days.
