Rayagada Chandrasekhar Nayak, a young man from Dukum village under Bissamcuttack police limits in Rayagada district, was involved in an accident and initially received treatment at a local medical facility. Later, he was shifted to JMS Medical College in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, for further treatment. Due to severe head injuries, doctors declared him brain dead. He was kept on a ventilator for treatment.
After doctors informed the family about his critical condition, Chandrasekhar’s father, Krushnachandra Nayak, decided to donate his son’s organs so that his life could continue in others. Following his request, the medical authorities agreed to retrieve and transplant Chandrasekhar’s organs to patients in need.
The organ donation process was initiated today. The medical team transferred Chandrasekhar to the operation theater, where his kidneys, liver, and heart were harvested. Senior doctors from Chennai and Hyderabad were assigned to carry out the procedure. After the organ retrieval, the Andhra Pradesh government arranged a green corridor and airlifted the organs from Srikakulam.
According to the medical team, his organs were sent to medical institutions in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. Five patients in critical condition received his organs through transplantation, giving them a new lease on life. Medical transplant coordinator Keshav confirmed this information.
Chandrasekhar’s father’s decision to donate his son’s organs in his final moments has been widely appreciated in the region. His act of generosity has sparked discussions and admiration in the community.
Following the donation, the medical authorities honored the deceased and handed over his body to the family. Chandrasekhar’s organ donation was carried out under the Jeevan Daan (Life Donation) initiative.
