Malkangiri, 4th Sept 2025: A central delegation of the Indian National Congress arrived in Malkangiri today to oversee the selection process for the new District Congress President. At a press conference held at the District Congress Bhawan in Malkangiri town, senior party leaders shared details of the process.

Among the delegation were:

  • Raghavendra Singh, MLA from Chhattisgarh and AICC member
  • Dasharath Gamang, MLA from Mohana, Odisha
  • Mangu Khul, MLA from Chitrakonda
  • Pandav Karna, State Secretary
  • Lipika Panigrahi, Congress leader from Dabugaon

From the local unit, leaders like MLA Mangu Khul, Govind Patra, G. Srinibas Rao, and Padma Pangi were present and participated in discussions regarding the district president selection process.

The central team informed that Congress workers from all seven blocks of the district will be consulted, and the individual who garners the most support from grassroots workers will be appointed as the new District Congress President.

Responding to a media query about possible internal conflict or dissent following the selection, Raghavendra Singh clarified that there will be no disputes. He assured that those who may feel disappointed or left out will be accommodated in other roles within the state or party structure.

However, speculation remains on whether the selection process might stir internal differences in the district unit, something that will become clear in the coming days, sources say.
