Patrapur: There is a festive atmosphere in Bhimapur village of Patrapur block, Ganjam district. The entire village is eagerly waiting for April 27th, as the only government school in the village is set to complete 100 years. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will attend the school’s centennial celebration.
On Saturday, the District Education Officer visited the school to review the preparations. Meanwhile, alumni, village elders, local representatives, and youth groups are actively involved in organizing the event.
Bhimapur Upgraded High School, under Samatiapalli Panchayat in Patrapur block, was established on March 15, 1924. The school began as a village pathshala in the house of freedom fighter Kripasindhu Panda. Over the past century, many students who studied here have gone on to become scholars, lawyers, and doctors.
Currently, the school has only 124 students from Class 1 to Class 10, which is a matter of concern for a centennial institution.
Situated near the Andhra-Odisha border, the school’s 100th anniversary celebration has been officially confirmed to include the Chief Minister. On Saturday, the District Education Officer, along with DPC office officials Neelakantha Sundarray and Praveen Mallik, visited the school to assess the preparations.
