Malkangiri, 27th Oct 2025: In Korukonda block, in the Veer Kishorepur village of Chitapari Panchayat, a tree-planting program was organized under the guidance of environmentalist Sushri Deepa Rani Nayak in collaboration with the Veer Kishorepur Youth Association. With the support of the association’s president Shri Jagannath Hantal and all members, 100 trees were planted.
The program was inaugurated by the chief guest Gayatri Devi, Block Education Officer (BEO), Shri Basanta Kumar Rana, Headmaster of Kandel High Primary School, Shri Dilip Kumar Ojha, teacher at Darlabeda Maha Vidyalaya, and Shri Jachindra Kumar Swain, CRCC of Somnath Nathpur Panchayat.
The main objective of this initiative was to celebrate a “Green Diwali” by planting trees instead of bursting firecrackers, thereby reducing environmental pollution and promoting eco-friendly practices. The program aimed to create positive awareness about the environment among villagers.
Under the leadership of SHG mothers of Veer Kishorepur village, the program was successfully executed. All members took a pledge to nurture and protect the planted trees in the coming days. Volunteers like Shubhangkar Bhaumik, Somnath Hantal, Sunel Muduli, Raju Sisa, Purna Muduli, Bhim Hantal, and others actively participated in the tree-planting activity.
Environmentalist Deepa Rani Nayak promised that similar programs would be organized in every village of Malkangiri district in the future to raise awareness about environmental protection and encourage eco-friendly practices.
