Bastingia: On Wednesday, a car lost control and fell into a canal from the Sramudi Bridge under the Sankarakhol Gram Panchayat of Chakapad block. The accident occurred while the vehicle was traveling from Sankarakhol toward Phulbani. The driver reportedly lost control and rammed into the iron barricade near the bridge, causing the car to fall into the canal.
Fortunately, no one was reported injured in the incident. However, as of evening, neither the police nor the fire department had reached the spot. Local residents took the initiative and managed to recover the vehicle from the canal.
It has been observed that accidents frequently occur at this particular location. According to some local people, there is a belief that a negative or evil force is at work in that area, pulling vehicles into the canal. This road is part of the Vijayawada–Ranchi corridor. Some technical experts have reportedly suggested that technical faults in the area need urgent correction, but those issues have not yet been addressed.
