Bhubaneswar, 29th Sept 2025: The capital city of Odisha is turning blood-stained and unsafe ahead of the festive season. On one hand, a young woman is abducted in an auto, while on the other, a youth is brutally beaten by criminals. It appears that criminals are now more active than the police in the city.
Law and order seem to have completely deteriorated. Professional criminals roam freely, and due to a lack of effective arrests, incidents of murder and violent assaults are on the rise. With bloodshed becoming a daily occurrence, residents live in fear, afraid to step out of their homes, anticipating danger at any moment.
Youth Brutally Beaten in Tarini Slum
A shocking incident occurred near Tarini Basti, under Saheed Nagar Police Station and VSS Nagar Outpost. A youth named Azad Sabar, a resident of Patharabandh Basti, was brutally attacked with sticks by miscreants. He was seriously injured and admitted to Capital Hospital in critical condition.
Shockingly, even though Azad was bleeding and sitting at the police outpost, no one took him to the hospital for over 20 minutes until an ambulance was finally arranged.
According to sources, Azad had recently quit substance abuse, but on Thursday, some miscreants near Tarini Basti approached him for money and pressured him to use drugs again. When he refused, they violently assaulted him.
Police say Azad has multiple cases registered against him. The growing drug activity in slum areas is a serious concern, with many deaths linked to drugs occurring in these neighborhoods.
Women Unsafe Even in Broad Daylight
Sexual predators are roaming the city, targeting women who are alone. From harassment to abduction, such crimes are increasing. Women feel unsafe even
