Budhi Area Displaced Council of Nandapur Submits Memorandum to CM

Nandapur, 18th Aug 2025:  Through the local MLA and Leader of the Congress Legislative Party, Shri Ramachandra Kadam, the Budhi Area Displaced Council of Nandapur has submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister.

It has been stated that in 1955, the Machhkund Hydro Power Project was launched through joint cooperation between Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. In this context, a reservoir was constructed at Jalaput to supply water to the Machhkund Hydro Power Plant located at Ankadelli. For this purpose, 8 panchayats of Nandapur Block and 2 panchayats of Lamptaput Block were displaced to make way for the reservoir.

However, even after 75 long years, no steps have been taken to provide the promised facilities and opportunities meant for the affected villagers of this project. Therefore, under the leadership of social worker Akash Khul, a delegation of the Budhi Area Displaced Council once again submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the local MLA.

In this memorandum, 16 developmental demands have been highlighted, mainly concerning education, healthcare, communication, drinking water, agriculture, and housing facilities in the affected area. Alongside this, during the grievance hearing, 15 group-based and 3 individual complaints were recorded.

The grievance hearing was attended by local sarpanches, various eminent persons, the Group Development Officer of Nandapur, other officials of different line departments, MLA representative Kames Kamudi, and other Congress party workers. The session was conducted by Panchayat Executive Officer Kamal Rao, and in conclusion, the local sarpanch offered a vote of thanks.
