Papadahandi, Nov 27: The Budha Chauria Football Tournament was celebrated today at the newly constructed playground of Bhandarbhandariguda in Danga, Papadahandi Block, Nabarangpur district. The tournament, organized under the auspices of the Budha Chauria Football Association, was held with the participation of 16 teams.
The final match was played between Santoshpur and Amar 11 Chercheta teams. Neither team could score within the stipulated time, so the winner was decided through a penalty shootout. Santoshpur won the championship with a 5-4 goal margin in the shootout.
The chief guest of the event was Dabunga MLA Manohar Randhari. Other honored guests included Nabarangpur Zilla Parishad Chairman Motiram Nayak, Papadahandi Block Vice Chairman Sushant Behera, Papadahandi Block BJD President Vidya Malik, Danga Panchayat Sarpanch representative Tularam Majhi, Khutbai Panchayat Sarpanch representative Kabiraj Nayak, senior BJD leaders Yudhisthir Goud, Sukru Goud, Bhagat Mali, Sadhu Bhatra, and committee member Mangaru Bhatra, among others.
Key organizers of the tournament included Budha Chauria Football Association President Padma Harijan, Tularam Uttara, Harihar Rihar Bhatra, Basman Yani, Madhu Bhatra, Lakhmu Bhatra, Damu Bhatra, and Bimal Bhatra.
For the final match, the referees were Raghunath Kalara, Chainu Bhatra, Champu Pujari, and the commentator was Rajman Kalara, who also provided match narration.
