Bhubaneswar Jan 30:The Budget Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly is set to commence from February 16. The session will focus on the presentation of the State Budget for the financial year 2026–27.
A proposal in this regard has been prepared by the State Government and sent for the Governor’s approval. After receiving the Governor’s consent, the official dates of the session will be formally announced by the Assembly, sources from the Parliamentary Affairs Department informed.
The session will be conducted in two separate phases, allowing detailed discussions on major policies and budgetary allocations. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also holds the Finance portfolio, will present the General Budget for the 2026–27 financial year.
With emphasis on the state’s growth trajectory, the budget is expected to outline strategic investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and other key sectors to steer Odisha towards sustainable development.
According to government sources, preparations are underway to ensure around 30 working days across both phases, facilitating comprehensive debates, legislative business, and smooth functioning of the Assembly. The total budget outlay is estimated to exceed ₹3 lakh crore this year.
