Bonda Student Ganesh to Represent India in Rugby Match in Fiji

Malkangiri, Jan 27: In a proud moment for Malkangiri’s Bonda Hills, Bonda student Ganesh Dhangadamajhi has turned what once seemed like a dream into reality by embarking on a foreign tour. Ganesh has begun his journey to Fiji to participate in an international rugby match, representing the KISS institution. Members of the Bonda tribe have expressed their gratitude to Dr. Achyuta Samanta for making this possible. Ganesh has also received warm wishes and congratulations from various quarters.

The Bonda community, one of the most primitive tribal groups, resides in the remote Bonda Hills. The people here struggle daily to secure even basic food for survival. To ensure that talented tribal children do not lose opportunities due to poverty and isolation, Dr. Achyuta Samanta has been providing free education, food, and accommodation to underprivileged tribal students at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS).

After completing his studies at KISS, Ganesh excelled in rugby, earning the opportunity to travel to Fiji for international competition. He has brought pride to the KISS institution and upheld the honour of the Bonda community. He has also been selected to play in the Mumbai Indian Premier League, adding another achievement to his name.
Ganesh comes from a large family with six brothers and one sister. His father works as a daily wage labourer to support the eight-member family. KISS has supported the education and basic needs of all the children in the family free of cost.

Ganesh’s elder brother, Hadi Dhangadamajhi, serves as a rugby coach at KISS-KIIT, while Ganesh himself has now become an international-level player. Through the achievements of these two brothers, the Bonda Hills have gained recognition not only in India but also abroad.
