Blueprint Ready for Nabarangpur City’s Future Development

Nabarangpur, 19th Sept 2025:  The district administration has taken concrete steps towards the overall development and beautification of Nabarangpur urban area. A detailed planning effort began on Tuesday morning with the involvement of local MLA Gouri Shankar Majhi, the district collector, and other key officials.

Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain, SP M. Sandeep Sampat, Deputy Collector Prakash Kumar Mishra, Municipality Chairperson Kunu Nayak, Executive Officer Dr. Ashok Kumar Karna, all councillors, and other officials conducted a city-wide inspection as part of the blueprint preparation.

Key Focus Areas:

Traffic Management: Efforts have started to address traffic issues in the city. The traffic post near Mangalam Timber Junction on the bypass road is in a poor state, and roads like Chhak Bulani remain narrow, causing traffic congestion, delays, and accidents. Plans for road widening and permanent solutions are underway.

Street Lighting and Drainage: Installation of street lights in necessary areas across various streets and intersections is being prioritized, along with improvements in the drainage system.

Old Daily Market Redevelopment: The old market is currently unusable due to waste accumulation. The dilapidated stalls will be demolished and replaced with a new market complex for public convenience.

Sanitation and Urban Cleanliness: Measures to improve hygiene and sanitation infrastructure are being implemented.

City Infrastructure Expansion:

  • Construction of a new indoor stadium
  • Establishment of a public library
  • Renovation of the Shastri Bhavan
  • Completion of the unfinished city park and bus stand
  • Permanent solution for issues at the daily market
  • Goal: “Healthy Green City”

With a vision to make Nabarangpur a healthy and green city, these initiatives are part of a broader urban upgrade. During the inspection, former municipal chairman and BJP leader Prahallad Tripathy, councillors Sharmistha Deo and A. Satish, among others, were present.
