Umerkote: World Blood Donor Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Umerkote Blood Bank. On this occasion, the newly established blood bank at Umerkote was the center of the celebration. The event began with a ceremonial cake-cutting.
Blood Bank Officer Dr. Sabyasachi Das extended his greetings to everyone and shared that since its inauguration on January 25, the Umerkote Blood Bank has collected 1,100 units of blood. Out of this, around 990 units have been utilized—approximately 897 units have been provided to patients in Umerkote itself, while 93 units have been supplied to the Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital.
Dr. Das also informed that a doctor working in the Ayush department donated blood for the first time during the event. Among the attendees were gynecologist Dr. Suman Kumar Raul, all bank staff, hospital employees, entire staff from the LCS unit, Account Manager Biswajit Suna, and Lokesh Kallar, among others.
He credited the entire success of the blood bank to the dedicated employees working there. Dr. Sabyasachi Das also urged the attendees to voluntarily donate blood, and in response to his appeal, 10 individuals came forward and donated blood on the spot.
