Block-Level Tree Plantation Drive Held at Kirmira for Mother Earth

Jharsuguda,19th Sept 2025:  A block-level “Tree for Mother” (ମାଁ ପାଇଁ ଗଛ) plantation program was held in Kirmira block of Jharsuguda district. This initiative, launched across the country on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, has now grown into a mass public movement. Under this campaign, a target of planting 7.5 crore saplings has been set for the state.

As part of this campaign, the Kirmira block-level event took place in the premises of the Rural Garden in Naskapali Panchayat. Block Chairperson Krushnapriya Sahu attended the event as the chief guest. Other dignitaries present included BDO Abhinash Lakra, Sarpanch Priyadarshini Ghughur, and former Block Chairperson Tejaraj Sahu, all of whom took part in the tree plantation.

The guests expressed that the purpose of the campaign is not only to show respect for Mother Earth but also to promote environmental conservation, regulate temperature and rainfall, enhance oxygen levels, and ensure soil preservation.

Additionally, tree plantations were carried out in various panchayats:

  • Tapi Marei, Sarpanch of Bandhpali Panchayat
  • Sangeeta Patel in Sulahi
  • Radharani Sa in Gaudapanpali
  • Mana Bag in Bhimajor
  • Santosini Patel in Kirmira
  • Officials and participants included:

  • APO Rashmita Bhol
  • BPC Chandani Behera
  • GPDO Ishwari Pradhan
  • PO Kedar Patel
  • Nayak Sarpanch Premkumar Jayapuria
  • Village Coordinators Chandramani Ghughur and Raju Nayak

Members of various women’s self-help groups and local villagers also actively participated in the plantation drive.

More than 4,000 saplings were planted across the block during this event.
