Nabarangpur:Dec, 22: The block-level Member of Parliament (MP) Sports Festival was celebrated today at Badmasigaon in Nabarangpur district. Additional District Collector (General), Tapan Kumar Khuntia, attended as the chief guest, while Sub-Divisional Officer, Prakash Kumar Mishra, was present as the guest of honor.
The program, organized under the chairmanship of Sunil Khara, included the participation of Block President Sharad Bhitra, DI/PR officials Manoj Behera, MP representative Jyoti Ranjan Kans, and Core Committee members. The festival was coordinated by Bank Bihari Bishoyi and local leaders including Badmasigaon Sarpanch Kamaleshwari Nayak, Ramesh Bhavra, and other public representatives were present on the stage.
In his speech, the chief guest, Additional District Collector, emphasized that sports should not be treated merely as a hobby but as an important activity for physical and mental health. He stressed that engaging in physical activities is essential for staying fit and healthy.
The sports festival, which began on the 16th, featured competitions in cricket, football, volleyball, 100-meter and 200-meter races. Winners in these competitions were awarded prizes. In the football competition, Chatahandi Panchayat emerged victorious; in volleyball, Sanmasigaon Panchayat won; and in cricket, Chatahandi Panchayat again secured first place.
Students of Badmasigaon SSD High School performed a traditional Dhemsa dance during the event. Six sports teachers from different schools in the Nabarangpur block were present and assisted in conducting the program. The MP representative, Jyoti Ranjan Kans, expressed gratitude to everyone involved in making the festival successful.
