Koraput  ,8th Nov 2025:  A block-level Fishery and Animal Resources Fair was organized today at Padia in Lakshmipur block by the Department of Fisheries and Animal Resources Development under the chairmanship of Lakshmipur Block Veterinary Officer, Manoj Behera.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests including Sasmita Meleka, Chairperson of the Zilla Parishad; Sagar Kumar Ram, District Fisheries Officer; Suai Kulesika, Chairperson of the Panchayat Samiti; Arati Kuldeep, Vice-Chairperson; Sabyasachi Behera, Block Development Officer; Dr. Sudarshan Sahu, Deputy Sub-Divisional Veterinary Officer; Kailash Khosla, MP Representative; Kumud Chandra Saunta, former Panchayat Samiti Chairperson; and Pinki Himerika, Zilla Parishad Member of Zone 2.

The guests encouraged the livestock farmers, fish farmers, and fishermen present at the event. On this occasion, Dr. Laxmidhar Behera, Chief District Veterinary Officer, attended as the chief speaker. He explained in detail how various schemes related to animal husbandry and fishery could reach every household in rural areas, and how people could benefit from them to improve their livelihoods.

Many elected representatives from the block attended the fair, where 12 stalls were set up to raise awareness among farmers. The fair also featured exhibitions on fishery, animal husbandry, and other departmental programs, along with expert discussions, awareness programs, and cultural performances — including a social awareness drama.

During the event, discussions were held regarding the development of fisheries and animal resources in Lakshmipur Block. Eight successful farmers were felicitated, and nineteen farmers were given work orders and related benefits.

The program was conducted by Jagannath Nayak, Veterinary Officer of Lakshmipur, with the assistance of Debi Prasad Kanungo (Additional Fisheries Officer), Rabi Narayan Sahu (LI), Ranjit Gudla, Anita Choudhury, Pankajini Garada, and Turuka Mandinga, among others, who actively contributed to the successful organization of the event.
