Blind Boy Sent Home Safely by Police

 Mayurbhanj, 5th Nov 2025: The Thakurmunda police rescued a blind minor boy from Rugudido village in Mayurbhanj district and handed him over to the authorities. On Sunday morning, around 9:00 AM, some volunteers of the CYSD organization were riding bikes from Thakurmunda to Talapada when they suddenly encountered a blind boy on the road.

The volunteers — Padmavati Sahu, Sanjay Kumar Behera, and Pitambar R Dinde — stopped their bikes, inquired about the boy’s identity, and then handed him over to Thakurmunda police. Investigation revealed that the boy was Ajay Singh (17), son of Jat Singh, from Lakshmishol village, Sora police station area in Balasore district.

Padmavati Sahu informed Barun Guntupali, District Protection Officer of Mayurbhanj, and Childline authorities about the situation. Thakurmunda police inspector Anita Swain sent the boy’s photo and address to Sora police station. The Sora police were able to identify the minor and inform his family.

The Thakurmunda police then sent the boy to his local police station via bus, from where he would return safely to his home.
