Muniguda: On Friday evening, a violent Kalbaishakhi storm struck the Ampadala area of Muniguda. Between approximately 7 PM and 8 PM, heavy rainfall accompanied by strong thunder and lightning occurred. The wind blew so fiercely that many trees were uprooted or broken and fell onto the roads.

Due to the impact of the Kalbaishakhi storm, in some places electric poles were uprooted. Near Kumpar Sahi, Bottal Rana and Gour Rana houses in Ampadala, lightning struck, causing extensive damage to two families. Roof tiles and asbestos sheets were broken, and electrical wiring and fixtures in two houses were burnt and destroyed. As a result, both families remained without electricity from Friday evening until now.

Fortunately, all the family members were inside their houses at the time, and since all the lamps were switched off, no one was injured. On receiving the news, Satyajit Das, a revenue department officer from Ampadala, arrived at the site to investigate the damage.

According to Dina Asha (an old Odia daily newspaper), the lightning caused the destruction of two houses and only light rain fell thereafter. Due to fallen trees and broken electric poles, there was disruption in electricity supply in the area. For several hours, the electricity supply was cut off. The fallen trees on the roads were cut and cleared, and electricity department workers quickly restored power.

Despite the prompt restoration, the two-hour long storm caused fear and panic among the residents witnessing the fierce Kalbaishakhi tempest.
