Nabarangpur: A conference of intellectuals on the topic ‘One Nation, One Election’ was organized at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district office in Nabarangpur.
The program was attended by state team coordinator Myakant Jena and state team member Rajesh Kumar Pattnayak as the chief guests and keynote speakers. The event was chaired by Kunj Bihari Das, the BJP Nabarangpur district president.
Former district president Jagadish Chandra Bishoyi, state Yuva Morcha executive member and traders’ association president Kahu Das, general secretary Achyutananda Bishoyi, senior leader Mrutyunjaya Das, and municipal chairperson Kunu Nayak were also present on the stage.
The stage was conducted by general secretary Debadas Mahankud.
During the discussion, speakers emphasized that simultaneous elections could help reduce unnecessary election expenses and facilitate the formation of a stable government, while also preventing frequent mid-term elections.
Some intellectuals expressed concerns that such a system would require constitutional amendments, but they agreed it is not impossible to implement.
Prominent citizens and leaders like Radha Nath Behera (President of Senior Citizens Association), Rammurti Pattnayak, B. Prasad Rao, Prabhakar Patra, Lalu Satapathy, Mamata Maharana, Jyoti Benya, Kishori Pattnayak, Swarnalata Pattnayak, and several representatives from various organizations also participated in the event.
