Baipariguda, 9th Aug 2025: Law and order in the Koraput region is reportedly deteriorating, with a sharp rise in crimes against women, including frequent cases of rape and assault being reported from undivided Koraput district.
In protest, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leaders and workers from across undivided Koraput will gherao the office of the DIG of South-Western Range and stage a mass protest demanding stronger protection for women.
Former Minister Rabi Narayan Nanda, in a press conference, announced that the protest will take place tomorrow, aiming to reflect the voice of the common people and their growing concern over women’s safety.

- Former MP Jhina Hikaka
- Former MLAs Raghuram Padal and Prabhu Jani

- Koraput Municipality Chairperson Lalit Ranjan Sethi
- BJD Leader Bala Ray, among others.
The protest is being positioned as a public outcry against the lack of safety and justice for women in the region.
