Birendra Appointed Director of Secondary Education, Brings Pride to Lakshmipur

Lakshmipur: Birendra Karkara, who was born into a modest family in Lakshmipur village of Koraput district, is now set to take charge as the Director of Secondary Education, Odisha. The news has sparked a wave of joy in the region, bringing pride to the Lakshmipur area.

Born in 1970, Birendra’s parents, Jagaman Karkara and Saptamani Karkara, endured many hardships to provide for their family and ensure a bright future for their children. Their efforts paid off, as Birendra pursued his education diligently and joined the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) in 1991. In 1995, he was inducted into the OAS cadre and first served as Secretary of CMC (Cuttack Municipal Corporation).

Over the years, he has held various significant positions, including Secretary in the Information & Public Relations Department, and served from 2011 to 2024 as Sub-Collector in Jeypore, Nabarangpur, and Malkangiri, as well as Additional District Magistrate (ADM) in Rayagada and Gajapati districts, and held responsibilities in P.P.D., DRDA, and more. He was most recently working as Independent Secretary in the Board of Revenue, Cuttack.

The government has officially notified his appointment as Director of Secondary Education, and he is expected to assume charge on the 4th of the month. Birendra has stated that anything is possible through dedication and perseverance, and he has become an inspiration for many.
