Kotpad: A summer camp ceremony and a block-level junior badminton tournament were held at the Biju Patnaik Stadium in Kotpad. The tournament saw participation from Under-19 players. In the doubles event, the winners were Aditya and Banti, while the runners-up were Jatin and Shan. In the singles competition, a match took place between Jatin and Naj, showcasing intense competition.
The event was organized with the support of the Kotpad Panchayat Samiti and the Koraput District Sports Office (DSO). The performance of the young players revealed that they are receiving excellent training. Credit for this was widely given to Anil Dalai, the regular badminton coach under the MPIES program in Kotpad, who was highly appreciated and thanked by the locals.
The chief guest of today’s program was the Chairman of the NAC (Notified Area Council), who in his speech announced plans to organize a district-level tournament very soon, much to the excitement of all present.
