Kendrapara, 26th July 2025:– After remaining closed for three months, Bhitarkanika National Park will reopen to tourists from August 1. The park was closed from May 1 to July 31 due to the crocodile breeding season, a crucial time for the conservation of the species. The Forest Department has made necessary preparations to welcome visitors again starting next month.
Tourists will once again be able to enjoy:
The lush green scenery
Rare sights of saltwater crocodiles (gharial)
Native birds in their natural habitat
Exciting boat rides through the scenic creeks and mangroves
Bhitarkanika is known as the second-largest mangrove ecosystem in India after Sundarbans and is a paradise for nature lovers, bird watchers, and wildlife photographers.
So mark your calendars — Bhitarkanika reopens on August 1!
