This year, the Ministry of Women and Child Development is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme, marking a decade of relentless efforts toward the safety, education, and empowerment of girls in India. This milestone aligns with India’s vision for a developed India by 2047 and the global shift from women’s development to women-led development, emphasized during India’s G20 Presidency and now embraced by Brazil’s G20 Presidency.
The inauguration ceremony will take place tomorrow (January 22, 2025) at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. The event will be graced by Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Shri J.P. Nadda, Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smt. Annapurna Devi, and Minister of State Smt. Savitri Thakur.
The 10th-anniversary celebration will run from January 22, 2025, to March 8, 2025, culminating on International Women’s Day. The inaugural ceremony at Vigyan Bhavan will include a pledge ceremony and the launch of a compendium of best practices. The event will also witness the launch of the Mission Vatsalya and Mission Shakti portals.
Similar events will be organized at state and district levels, with special programs scheduled for January 22, January 26, and March 8. Activities will include rallies, cultural events, award ceremonies, and pledge campaigns. Campaigns under women empowerment centers will engage various stakeholders, including schoolgirls, successful women, and community groups.
Throughout the celebration, the scheme’s message will be promoted nationwide through print, digital, and social media campaigns, including a tree plantation drive.
Recognizing the need for comprehensive and coordinated efforts to save daughters, ensure their safety, and empower them, the government launched the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme.
