Gunupur, Jan 28: The 14th State-Level Bansadhara Basanta Mahotsav has commenced with great enthusiasm in Gunupur. The city streets came alive with a grand Kalash procession accompanied by music and dance performances. A portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was unveiled and a tribute pavilion dedicated to him was inaugurated. On this occasion, 50 senior personalities were felicitated for their notable contributions in various fields.
The Basanta Mahotsav is being organized by the Gunupur Town Reconstruction Committee along with the Srujani Manch cultural platform. Former Chief Minister Dr. Giridhar Gamang attended the event as the chief guest.
The sacred Agnya Mala was brought from Machharabanam Peeth in Ramnaguda block. After offering prayers to Lord Jagannath, a massive Kalash procession moved through the town. Cultural performances such as Kali dance from Andhra Pradesh, Ghumura dance from Ambadola, and Bana Badi folk performances from Bakitisahi captivated the audience. Thousands of devotees participated in the procession, which, accompanied by traditional musical instruments, culminated at the festival ground.
The festival committee president and former विधायक Trinath Gamang presided over the meeting. Along with chief guest Dr. Gamang, Municipal Chairperson Mamata Gouda, Block Chairperson Jhilli Sabar, Sabar Cultural Council President Chakrapani Sabar, Town Reconstruction Committee President Akshaya Das, and Secretary Ranjit Padhi were present.
Festival Committee Secretary Sudarshan Sabar delivered a speech in the Soura language. The messages of the Governor and the Chief Minister were read out by convener Rajesh Padhi. Executive President Kailash Das, Ramesh Lima, Joint Secretary Laxmi Mahankud, advocate Rama Pattnaik, GIET Vice President Chandradhwaj Panda, Tirupati Mahanti, Councillor Bhagirathi Bishoi, Neelamadhab Padhi, Ram Panda, Shiva Padhi, Tarani Satpathy, Bulu Padhi, Bapu Pattnaik, Dr. Prashant Kumar Hota, Dillip Choudhury, Ashok Kar, and Muja Pani assisted in organizing the event.
Piyush Pattnaik from Puri anchored the programme. Vice President of the Town Reconstruction Committee Uma Das introduced the guests, while Municipal Vice-Chairperson Shiva Prasad Gouda delivered the vote of thanks. Cultural programmes were also presented on the occasion.
