Banishree Kala Niketan Hosts Summer Odissi Dance Workshop in Malkangiri

Malkangiri : As in previous years, this year too, Banishree Kala Niketan has organized its annual summer Odissi dance workshop. The workshop is being held from June 1st to 10th in Malkangiri and Balimela.

Children are being trained in classical Odissi dance by renowned dance guru Binayak Samal from the Odisha Dance Academy, Bhubaneswar. Under the guidance of Guru Gyanadeva Sahu (popularly known as Bitan Guruji) from Banishree Kala Niketan, the workshop is imparting classical dance education to young aspirants.

The primary objective of this workshop in Malkangiri district is to:

Help local dance artists understand the rich classical tradition of Odissi dance,

Encourage children to develop deeper interest and appreciation for this classical art form, and

Promote and spread their artistic talent beyond the district and the state.

Students from Banishree Kala Niketan have showcased their classical Odissi performances not just within the district and state, but also in other regions, earning recognition for Malkangiri.

Local intellectuals believe that if the Banishree Kala Niketan receives some administrative support, many passionate students from Malkangiri district will be able to gain fame at the district, state, and even national levels through Odissi dance.
