Balasore,9th Sept 2025: Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi recently met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to discuss several projects related to the interests of Balasore district and the state of Odisha. The MP has long been demanding the expansion of the Balasore-Kharagpur road into a six-lane highway to resolve persistent traffic issues on this National Highway.
MP Sarangi stated that he had been consistently writing letters and submitting proposals for the expansion, but due to a lack of approval from the concerned department, the project had been stalled. However, during the recent meeting, he once again appealed to the minister for approval. In response, Minister Gadkari directed departmental officials to expedite the process and move the project file forward immediately.
In addition to this, discussions were also held about other developments, including:
- Approval for the widening of the Sheragada-Nilgiri-Jharanaghati road,
- Construction of underpasses and ramp bridges at various locations along the National Highway,
- Investigation into financial irregularities in the ongoing construction of the Beauty Park at Naharpatna, and
- Proposal for a new park in the area.
- The MP informed that the minister assured him appropriate action would be taken to ensure effective implementation of all these projects. He also expressed gratitude to both the Union Minister and the Prime Minister for their support.
