Nandapur,24th Oct 2025:  In Koraput district’s Nandapur block, Balda forest officer Badal Kumar Mahanti has been nominated to the national level after winning 4 gold medals in the state-level walking competition. Earlier, he won 4 gold medals at the zonal level and was nominated to the state level. At the state level competition, he won 4 gold medals in the 400 meters, 800 meters, 1500 meters, and 10,000 meters walking events.

At the age of 59, for such an achievement, the higher authorities of the forest department have honored Ranger Mahanti with the title of “Fit Ranger.” From November 12 to 16, the national-level competition will be held in Dehradun.

Badal Mahanti is preparing for the national-level competition. For this, training arrangements are being made by the state forest department in Bhubaneswar from October 26 to November 6. Ranger Mahanti will retire on March 31, 2026. He expressed hope that he will succeed in the national-level competition.
