Malkangiri, 8th Nov 2025:  An awareness program on how pensioners can stay alert and protect themselves from cyber fraud was held on Wednesday at the Zilla Parishad Conference Hall in Malkangiri district headquarters. The event was organized by the District Administration in association with the Association of Retired Government Employees, under the chairmanship of the association’s president Balat Raju Padhi.

Among the dignitaries present were Ashish Gautam Panda, District Finance and Savings Officer; Kirtania, Cyber Cell Officer; Mayadhar Pangi; Harinath Panda; Ashok Samal, Secretary of the association; and Durjodhan Patra. Over 80 pension beneficiaries attended the program.

Speakers noted that in today’s digital era, many cybercriminals deceive people with various temptations and illegally withdraw money from their bank accounts. Innocent and unaware citizens often fall victim to such frauds and lose their hard-earned savings.

The Cyber Cell Officer and Bank Officials explained to the pensioners how to remain cautious against these scams. They advised:

  • Do not answer calls from unknown numbers.
  • Do not believe messages or links sent by strangers.
  • Never share personal or banking details, even if someone claims there is a problem with your bank account.
  • Participants were also instructed that if anyone becomes a victim of cyber fraud, they should immediately contact the Cyber Cell helpline number 1930 for assistance.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Surendra Kumar Mallik, a member of the association.
