Baipariguda,23rd July 2025: An awareness camp focusing on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, commonly known as the POSH Act, was organized today at the Baipariguda Block Hall. The program was held under the direction of Judge Pradeep Kumar Mahanta, Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Koraput, and with its support.
Chief Guest Pradyomayi Sujata inaugurated the event. Among other dignitaries on the dais were:
- Dr. B. Gayatri Devi, Special Public Prosecutor, POCSO Court, Jeypore
- Sabita Brahma, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Baipariguda
- Purnima Barik, Block Vice-Chairperson
- Milu Pradhani, Gram Panchayat Development Officer
- Lombadhar Nayak, Assistant Engineer
The event was attended by all block-level staff including ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and MBK (Mission Shakti) members.
Chief guest Sujata emphasized the formation of Internal Complaints Committees (ICC) in every office to ensure workplace safety for women, and recommended prominently displaying ICC details at office entrances.
Dr. Gayatri Devi spoke in detail about the POSH Act—its purpose, provisions, and implementation mechanisms—and also discussed the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act and how it operates to protect marginalized communities.
Assistant Engineer Lombadhar Nayak discussed future initiatives for awareness and implementation.
At the end of the program, it was announced that a POSH committee will soon be formed at the Baipariguda Block, and all employees will be made aware of relevant legal safeguards. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and commitment to spreading legal awareness.
The camp was coordinated by DLSA officials Debendra Kanhar, Subash Durua, and Rajeshwar Mahuria, who actively supported its organization and smooth conduct.
