Nabarangpur,16th Sept 2025: An awareness camp on the prevention of child marriage was organized under the aegis of the District Women and Child Welfare Department at Government New Panchayat High School and Chacharaguda Government High School in Dabugam block of Nabarangpur district. The program involved students from Class 9 and 10 along with teachers and staff.
As part of the program, students and teachers took a pledge against child marriage. The session featured insightful talks from:

These speakers elaborated on the social impacts of child marriage and measures to prevent it. They emphasized that child marriage continues to be a serious issue in society, and education is the key tool to combat it.
The government has already launched various awareness-based schemes and implemented strict laws to curb the practice. Additionally, many women’s organizations are actively working at the grassroots level to eliminate child marriage.
Guests stated that with growing awareness and participation from the community, including parents who are now prioritizing their daughters’ education over early marriage, many areas of the district have witnessed a significant decline in child marriages.
