Jeypore,24th Sept 2025: Following the recent collapse of a shop building in Koraput town, an inspection of old buildings and commercial structures in the city was conducted on the instructions of the District Collector. The inspection was carried out by the Jeypore Municipality with assistance from the Roads and Building (R&B) Department.
Structures inspected included:
- A two-storey building near Sarojini Bhavan in Maharani Peta
- Another two-storey building near the old government bus stand
- Shop buildings near the District Court and Sub-Treasury
- Shops in the daily market and other commercial structures in the town
- Key officials present during the inspection included:
- Ashok Kumar Behera – Assistant Executive Engineer, R&B
- Biplab Kumar – Junior Engineer
- Ajay Kumar Jani – Municipal Engineer
- Debaprasad Mohanty – Work Sarkar
- Other supporting staff and officials
As per available information, dangerous buildings will be demolished in the coming days based on safety certification from the R&B Department, and new structures will be constructed in their place. Buildings deemed safe will be repaired as necessary.
