Basudevpur: Assistant Teacher Dinabandhu Bej of Shaheed Laxman Nayak High School has been conferred an honorary doctorate degree on Tuesday, 20.05.2025, by the American Merit Council’s Worldwide Charitable Trust at a convocation ceremony held at Jaydev Bhavan, Bhubaneswar, in recognition of his significant contributions to literature.
It is noteworthy that Bej has earlier received over 150 certificates of honor from more than 100 organizations and has earned numerous accolades at the state, national, and international levels for his involvement in education, health, and social work.
Currently serving as a science teacher at Shaheed Laxman Nayak High School in Malkangiri district, Dinabandhu hails from Basudevpur, Bashathi village, in Bhadrak district. A talented literary organizer, poet, and writer, he has gained wide recognition across the state.
He has founded a national-level poets and writers’ organization and has edited its annual journal “Aama Angikara”. He has compiled anthologies like “Kabi Sataka” (a collection of selected poems) and “Galpa Panchadasa” (a collection of 15 short stories), and has also served as the former editor of the grassroots literary magazine “Trika”.
In addition, more than 200 of his articles and writings have been published in various magazines and journals.
He has been honored as a distinguished short story writer and “Sahitya Bindhani” by several literary institutions including Rajya Kala Gabeshana O Prashikshan Parishad, Manaswini Literary Magazine, Kaibalya Sahitya Sansad, Malyagiri Sahitya Sansad, Pratishruti Sahitya Sansad, Kabi Minaar Sahitya Ghar, and Lakshmipur Sahitya Sansad.
Expressing his gratitude, he dedicated all his achievements to his mother, the village deity, teacher Pachi, and all well-wishers and family members who made it possible.
