Phulbani –17th Oct 2025:  Demanding the fulfillment of their 8-point charter of demands, the Artists’ Association organized a rally and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister through the District Collector.

Key Demands Include:

Revival of near-extinct traditional art forms like Ram Natak, Ghuduki, and Ban Koila

Publication of the Senior Artists’ List by the Central Government

Provision of artist pensions and support schemes

The Rally:

Under the leadership of Association President Trinath Panda and Secretary Nirakar Pujari, over a hundred artists dressed in traditional costumes started the rally from Madikunda Square, passed through the main market, and reached the Collector’s Office.

They held discussions with the District Collector and submitted the memorandum outlining their demands.

The protest was a call to action for the preservation of Odisha’s rich cultural heritage and better support for its traditional artists.
