Bhubaneswar, Dec, 15: The process for appointing Shishu Sebikas (child caregivers) for all Shishu Batikas in the state has progressed. The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has written to the District Education Officers (DEOs), asking them to provide data on students enrolled in Shishu Batika classes by the 16th of this month.
In its letter, OSEPA stated that the recruitment process for Shishu Sebikas in the state has reached its final stage and that appointments will be made very soon in Shishu Batikas. Therefore, DEOs have been asked to submit information on how many children are studying in Shishu Batikas in each school.
It is worth noting that on June 29, the Chief Minister announced that Shishu Sebikas would be appointed for all Shishu Batikas in the state. He stated that Shishu Sebikas would manage young children in classrooms and take care of them.
The very next day, on June 30, the School and Mass Education Department issued a notification stating that the responsibility for appointing Shishu Sebikas would lie with the School Management Committee (SMC). OSEPA will issue a separate set of guidelines regarding the recruitment process. In addition, guidelines detailing their roles and responsibilities will also be issued.
