Another Low-Pressure System Likely to Form on August 14

Bhubaneswar, 6th Aug 2025: A cyclonic circulation is expected to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal or slightly south of it around August 13. Within the next 24 to 48 hours, it may intensify into a low-pressure area. Due to its influence, rainfall is likely to continue in Odisha till the 17th of August.

According to weather expert Surendranath Pasupalak, moderate rainfall is expected over central and southern coastal Odisha, heavy rainfall over western Odisha, and very heavy rainfall in some parts of southern Odisha. He added that the monsoon activity will become active again across the state, signaling the resumption of monsoonal rains.

Several districts will witness showers during this period, including Galeswar, Bhadrak, and Jajpur, coinciding with the Janmashtami festival.

On the other hand, thunderstorms with lightning and rain are likely tomorrow (August 5) in the districts of Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati. A Yellow Warning has been issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre for these areas.
