Jeypore, 31st Oct 2025: Strong winds from cyclone Mocha in Andhra Pradesh have affected the border areas of Odisha and Andhra. Due to heavy rainfall, the Koraput–Nawarangpur railway line has been washed away. Near Chamitipali, water flowing over the railway track has caused damage to the railway line.
As a result, all passenger trains and express trains operating on the Koraput–Nawarangpur route have been canceled. Freight trains are also stuck at various stations. The railway department team has reached the site and assessed the situation. Because of water flowing down from the hills, restoration work on the railway line could not begin immediately. Once the rains subside, the railway line will be repaired and train services will resume normally.
Similarly, the Araku-Ghati road has been waterlogged. Water flowing down from the hills has flooded the road connecting the state highways, disrupting Andhra-Odisha connectivity. From a safety perspective, the Andhra administration has closed the Lamata-Put-Araku-Visakhapatnam route. Since this route is frequented by a large number of tourists, the administration has taken precautionary measures. Continuous rainfall in Andhra since Monday evening has caused water to flow down from Araku Ghati onto the state highway.
