Amrit Peedhi Student World Conference Organised at Utkal University

Bhubaneswar, Dec, 26:  With the support of the Department of Higher Education, a joint initiative of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) and Utkal University led to the organization of the “Amrit Peedhi Student World Conference” today at Deeksha Bhavan, Utkal University. The conference is being held from December 18 to December 20.

The theme of the conference is “Artificial Intelligence and Ethics.” More than 500 students are participating in this student world conference. Along with students from various universities, a few faculty members, academicians, researchers, startup founders, senior officials working in reputed corporate companies, distinguished professionals from IT and AI companies based abroad, and professors from IITs and other premier institutions are taking part in the conference.

At the inaugural ceremony held today, the Minister for Higher Education, Shri Suryabanshi Suraj, attended as the Chief Guest. In his address, he stated that “Artificial Intelligence is the future. AI is man-made—humans have created it, are using it, and in the coming future, discussions on its use and ethical application are essential. Keeping this in view, the Student World Conference has been organized.”

He said that discussions during the conference will focus on Artificial Intelligence and ethics, healthcare, education, industry, governance through AI, cyber security, AI-based innovations, and AI-driven startups. Students will actively participate in discussions and will also be able to present their written technical papers related to AI and technology. Selected technical write-ups, chosen by experts, will be published in the Utkal University Journal of Computing and Communication.

The Minister further remarked, “Students are the future of our nation. Inspired by our rich history and heritage, students should engage themselves in industry, research, and innovation by using artificial intelligence and emerging technologies for building a developed India and a developed Odisha.” He expressed confidence that by effectively using AI, Odisha and India can be transformed into a technical hub and a startup hub, with active participation from students.

During the inaugural ceremony, the Higher Education Minister also visited the ‘Yuva Swadeshi Innovation Exhibition’. A total of 52 students are participating in this exhibition, where various AI- and technology-based innovations and projects developed by students are on display. The Minister expressed happiness after reviewing the exhibits and interacted with students on artificial intelligence and contemporary technologies.

It was announced that the best five innovation projects from the Yuva Swadeshi Innovation Exhibition will be awarded a total prize money of ₹1 lakh.
As a distinguished guest at the inaugural ceremony, Professor Hee-Cheol Kim from the College of AI Convergence, Inje University, Republic of Korea, delivered a detailed presentation on the features, applications, and significance of Artificial Intelligence.
Among those present at the event were Professor Yajneshwar Dandapat, Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University; Professor Deepak Kumar Sahu, Vice-Chancellor of VSSUT; Dr. Swati Mishra, Registrar of Utkal University; and Shri Pradeep Tang, Registrar of VSSUT, along with other dignitaries.
