Nandapur, Dec, 23: State Food Supply and Technology Minister Krishna Chandra Patra visited the Adarsha LAMPS (Large Area Multipurpose Storage) in Nandapur block on Saturday. During the visit, he inspected the storage facility and other arrangements made for farmers at the market. He assured that all facilities would be provided for farmers coming to the market.
Minister Patra was welcomed at Nandapur bus stand by Koraput district BJP vice-president Saroj Mishra, Chaitanya Nandibali, National Council member Jayaram Bhoy, State Council member Bhagwan Muduli, Nandapur Mandal president Trinath Batgharia, Padua Mandal editor Laxman Khuli, and other prominent leaders. At the LAMPS and entry gate, the director board members, including Gopal Krishna Bebarsha, Jagannath Pangi, Seemanchal Khol, Madhu Dora, and LAMPS manager Suresh Panda, greeted him with flower bouquets.
The minister was shown the LAMPS office and the arrangements for the market. He also held discussions with all LAMPS directors. The directors mentioned the need to set up a cold storage in the block and highlighted that land categorization has remained unchanged since the 1962 settlement system. This limits the number of farmers who can be registered and reduces the area of irrigated land, as there are only 4–5 irrigation projects in the block.
Farmers have also demanded the construction of additional storage and ancillary facilities within the LAMPS area. The minister assured that these issues would be resolved. Sub-Collector Premalal Hial stated that land for the LAMPS cold storage would be provided within the next 15 days. During the visit, all state, district, and block-level officials of the Supply and Cooperative Department were present. The Nandapur police ensured extensive security arrangements.
